Stair Treads

Built To Be Walked On.

About Our Stair Treads

Stair treads take more daily wear than almost any other wood feature in a home. That's why we focus on building stair treads that combine durability, craftsmanship, and long-term performance. Whether you're looking for a rustic statement staircase or a clean modern design, our stair treads are built to complement the space while standing up to years of use.

Every tread is milled and finished in-house, allowing us to maintain control over material selection, sizing, color, and quality from start to finish.

What Makes Our Stair Treads Different?

Carefully Selected Lumber

With a large inventory of hardwoods and rustic timbers at our sawmill, we're able to be selective about the material that goes into every tread. We carefully evaluate each board to avoid excessive checking, cracking, and other defects that may affect appearance or performance.

Built For Durability

We typically build stair treads between 1" and 4" thick, creating a substantial appearance while providing the strength needed for one of the most heavily used areas of a home.

Rustic or Refined

Whether you're looking for natural live-edge character or crisp, clean lines with a smooth sanded finish, we can build stair treads to match the style of your project.

Custom Color Matching

We can match a wide variety of stains and existing wood finishes, helping your stair treads blend seamlessly with flooring, trim, cabinetry, and other architectural details.

Built In-House

From lumber selection to final finishing, every stair tread is produced in our shop. Owning our own lumber yard and sawmill allows us to maintain greater control over quality, material selection, and lead times.

Popular Species

Oak

Our most popular stair tread species, valued for its durability, stability, and timeless appearance.

White Oak

A strong and versatile hardwood with prominent grain patterns and proven long-term performance.

Maple

Dense, durable, and clean-grained, making it an excellent choice for modern and contemporary designs.

Pine

A more rustic option with natural character and warmth. Pine can be an excellent choice when dents, wear, and aging are part of the desired aesthetic.

Additional species may be available depending on project requirements and material availability.
